- The Boeing C-32A is a military version of the Boeing 757-200 developed to transport senior U.S. government officials, military leaders, and other authorized passengers. The aircraft combines the capabilities of a long-range commercial airliner with a specially configured interior and military communications equipment. Compared with larger presidential aircraft, the C-32A is smaller and more flexible, allowing it to operate from a wider range of airports while providing secure and comfortable transportation for high-level government missions.
- The U.S. Air Force acquired the C-32A fleet beginning in the late 1990s as part of an effort to modernize government airlift capabilities. The aircraft are operated by the 89th Airlift Wing at Joint Base Andrews, Maryland, a unit responsible for special air missions supporting the President, Vice President, First Lady, Cabinet officials, congressional delegations, and other senior government personnel. The C-32A can also support diplomatic travel and international missions where its combination of range, capacity, and flexibility is particularly useful.
